What recent (or not so recent) bands do you think were influenced by Renaissance?

Who's on your "Renaissance" playlist or Pandora station?

So far, Blackmore's Night, Muse (!?), Mostly Autumn, and Odin Dragonfly have been suggested. Waiting to see if anybody suggests October Project and Magenta.

My spontaneous reaction would be "none". Renaissance has been forgotten by the History of music, nobody knows who they are so nobody could be influenced by them.

Now, it's not that simple.

Renaissance, at least, has been popular on the US East Coast and some bands based there could have been influenced, I think of October Project or Grey Eye Glances.

There are also some rare Renaissance cover bands that evolved toward a more personal repertoire. The only case I know is the Japanese band Vermillion Sands.

Magenta? Vocalist Christina Booth has first heard of Annie Haslam because people, after the first Magenta album was released, started to compare one to the other. So she could not have been influenced.

I wouldn't swear she's influenced by Renaissance, but those are two fine songs !
