They say "1 disc" but it may be wrong.
Hi-
Anyone have further info on the "Live in Chicago" release? I was hoping for a dvd, but I'm only seeing an audio cd being mentioned.

From the Artists Shop site:
Renaissance/Live In Chicago ....import double CD $17.99
Retroworld - Recorded live in 1983 at Park West Chicago and released for the first time on CD. This concert was originally recorded for US television show called "Hot Spots" and the line up at the time was Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford, Jon Camp, Gavin Harrison and Mick Taylor. The band had just release a new album at the time, "Time Line," but only one track from that is featured here, "Flight." Instead of plugging the new record they decided. to concentrate on older material. The hit single "Northern Lights" kicks off this set. An essential addition to any Renaissance fan's collection.
Also, if there's no DVD, what would contain the second disk?

And why do some sources say Floating World while other sources say Retro World?
Those labels are linked one to the other, as shown here:
http://www.floatingworldrecords.co.uk/

May be you could send the question at the Renaissance Yahoo group.
Gary Davis from The Artists Shop is there and posts from time to time.

Meanwhile, the Japanese edition does contain a DVD, but it's not sure it's
compatible with american DVD players.
Contacted Gary Davis - he said he would look into it.
Posted by Gary Davis on the Renaissance Yahoo group:

I've already checked with the distributor on this. He looked into it
and responded that the label had made an error in describing this as a
double CD. It is, in fact, a single CD. No extra CD or DVD. Sorry.
AND NOW...

The Japanese set is also made of only one CD.

From http://bit.ly/cUN72j:

Change the standard number (MSIG0680-81 → MSIG0680) specification change (CD + DVD → CD)

Please note that the information there with the original DVD specification are now canceled. This is only the product and 1CD.

Also, I finally found the MSI website:

http://www.musicscene.co.jp
I have seen this on other web pages (CD Universe for example), and it is listed as a single cd offering. It is not a DVD, or a double CD, or a CD and DVD combo.

Its kinda sad they did not release this on DVD, as this is much better quality video and sound than the Song of Scheherazade dvd from a few years ago. Of course, we don't know what legal wranglings or expense there may be in releasing it either. As fans we can hope that it becomes commercially available on DVD some time.

I have received the CD from Japan. I had ordered it when it was supposed to be a CD/DVD set.
The japanese are in the end selling the british edition. The 8 page booklet and the disk itself
show the logos of Retro World, Floating World and Voiceprint and have the catalog number
FLOATM6069. They have just added a paper hinge and a folder in Japanese with the catalog
number MSIG0680.

The written tracklist is

1. Northern Lights
2. Flight
3. Running Hard
4. Opening Out
5. Day Of The Dreamer
6. Fanfare (Song Of Scheherazade)
7. Ocean Gypsy
8. At The Harbour
9. Festival Preparations (Song Of Scheherazade)
10. Can You Understand
11. Touching Once
12. Ashes Are Burning

So, like bootlegs editors, they present medley fragments as separate songs.
The CD itself contains only 5 tracks.

Total running time: 40'

Not only are the medley fragments listed as separate songs, but two of the songs supposedly represented aren't even there at all. There are no excerpts of either "Day Of The Dreamer" or "At The Harbour."

(Also, the piece titled "Fanfare" should actually be "The Betrayal," but at least that's an honest mistake!)
