Renaissance Fanfare

Fans of Renaissance and Annie Haslam

Terry Sullivan''s new web site is live: http://renaissant.co.uk/

Notable news:

"I will be setting up the studio in the new year and I'm really looking forward to recording with faces old and new. I will keep you informed with all the adventures of Renaissant through this page."

...and interesting info - the story of how Terry joined Renaissance:

"On this page I will be sharing memories of my life with the progressive classical rock band Renaissance."

Not that we doubted the information which was referred to in numerous Annie/Michael interviews during 2009/2010, but I believe this is the first confirmation:

"In 2009 John Tout, John Camp and myself were asked to join Haslam/Dunfords Renaissance, we declined...."

does anyone know why they declined?  i would like to know...

I have no actual/factual information, but I speculate that these kinds of reunions are much, much harder to pull off than us fans realize:

  • Band members likely have day jobs or other business commitments today
  • A tour/reunion involves a huge time commitment, and (likely) sharing the financial risks and up-front investment
  • Age & health related obstacles, such as John Tout's 2009 heart attack (Wikipedia) or Jon Camp's unspecified health issues (Michael Dunford in Progression Magazine interview.)
  • The individuals may have NO desire to return to "the road." Dunford asserts this twice in the Progression interview: "They're not in the business any more."

Even the three-way collaboration between Camp, Tout, and Sullivan (residing in the same country, involving a studio project, not a tour) has still not materialized (from Renaissant FB page):

All that said, I desperately hope that guest appearances will be considered if/when the band tours the U.K.
